  About Me

JPEG image of Barton Reeder         I was raised in Arlington, and graduated from Lamar High School in 1994.  I left Texas to attend Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and in Philosophy.  I returned to Texas to study law at Texas Tech University, in Lubbock, graduating in the top Quarter of my class in May 2001.  I now live with my wife, Janée , in Far North Dallas, near Preston Road and the George Bush Turnpike.

My experience in real estate extends from the fundamentals of construction and development to sophisticated financing and leasing arrangements.  Having a custom home builder and developer as a father, I have been around construction sites and real estate developments for virtually my entire life.  I have also worked with condominium projects, as well as commercial and industrial buildings.  From working alongside tradesman to negotiating with municipal bureaucrats, loan officers and customers, I have seen every side of the real estate industry.

I have found the financial mechanics of real estate deals the most stimulating, but simply "working the numbers" is not enough to truly grasp what the real estate industry is about.  To fully understand what a given piece of real estate is worth, you must know what went into it.  While "Location, Location, Location" are the realtor's magic words, becoming an informed owner/investor requires understanding all the factors that determine the property's market value.  That means understanding the local real estate market as well as the particular project's specifications.

My background in economics and finance, as well as my familiarity with the real estate industry in the Metroplex, can help me advise you on the range of financing options available and on the overall wisdom of a proposed "deal."  In those situations, I serve dual roles: as an attorney in regards to the legality of proposal, and as a counselor in analyzing the possibilities and contingencies down the road.

I also handle construction and general litigation, problems with liens and easements, creative ownership/leasing/payment arrangements, collection issues, and business formation. Because my relationship with clients is usually long-term, I also handle estate planning, including how to transfer your real estate holdings with the smallest estate/gift tax possible.

Contact me at your convenience so we can review what options are before you and determine which one fits your situation best.
