Important note!
Please read the information on this page
carefully before you send email or any other correspondence.
I welcome your comments and questions,
and I will try to respond to most messages. However, I may be unavailable
for several days at a time, or for technical reasons I might not receive
your message. If you are dealing with a legal matter that may involve
a deadline (such as filing a lawsuit), you should contact an attorney by
telephone if you do not receive a quick response to email. If you do
send me email, please follow these 5 guidelines:
1. Do not send
confidential information to me unless you have retained my services.
It is possible that I already represent someone else involved in the
same legal situation as you, and I might then have a legal duty to disclose
your information to that client. Even if you do retain my services,
you should be aware that email may be stored and forwarded through several
computer systems, and it is possible for someone to illegally access it.
Be careful about sending confidential or sensitive information by email
to anyone.
2. Please do not
send anonymous email. In order to protect clients and potential clients
from breaches of confidentiality, I have a policy of not responding to
email that does not contain your first and last name and the city and state
in which you live.
I understand the need to
guard one's privacy while on the Internet, but, as a lawyer, I cannot communicate
with anonymous persons. Please be assured that I am not compiling a list
to sell or give away -- I ask for identifying information solely so that
I can determine whether I am free to discuss legal issues with you. Whatever
information you send me, I will keep confidential as long as I am legally
allowed to do so.
3. Please remember that I
am a TEXAS lawyer. I am not licensed to practice law in any other
state. That means that I cannot give legal advice unless the property at
issue is in Texas or is otherwise governed by Texas law.
4. Please do not rely
solely on this web site or my email when making decisions. Until I explicitly
agree to serve as your attorney, we do not have an attorney-client relationship.
If my response contains information about the law, it is offered for
your education only, not as legal advice.
5. Please understand
that I have to earn a living. I realize that you may need to ask a few
preliminary questions before you can decide whether to hire me, and I welcome
such inquiries. However, please don't abuse this by asking for free legal
advice. Answers to many general questions can be found on this web site.
If you need an answer tailored to your specific circumstances, I will probably
respond by suggesting that you hire me or another attorney to help you.
Within these guidelines, feel free to send
your questions about my services and fees, or suggestions for my FAQ page
or my web site as a whole. Remember to include the following:
Your first and last name, city, and state.
(absolutely necessary)
The search engine and keywords you used
to locate my web site. (optional, but greatly appreciated!)
,
or call (214) 938 - 1823.
